A Quick(ish) Intro to Me
Hi! I’m Emaly (pronounced just like “Emily,” though I’ll answer to just about any way you say it). I am so glad you found your way here!
I’m a small town girl (living in a lonely world) navigating life with my husband of five years, our daughter, and our two dogs. There is so much that I want to share with you, but I don’t want to make this too long, so we’ll go into detail on that in blogs to come. For now, I’m sure you’re interested in why the heck this website even exists.
This isn’t LinkedIn, so I won’t bore you with too many details, but as you’ll come to find out, I believe the journey is important, so let’s start near the beginning.
I was in content marketing for six years and loved (almost) every second of it. The work came naturally to me and I thrive in a fast-paced environment. It was very easy to see myself rising in the ranks and being a career-focused woman. But the burnout hit and I decided to step away and take a break. And then…2020 happened.
Let’s consider 2020 my gap year. I learned macrame, nurtured a sourdough starter, and watched too much Netflix. I also learned a lot about myself.
Namely that I tend to be an all or nothing type of person. Which led to far too many craft supplies, a freezer full of bread, and more random knowledge of big cat drama than I care to have (IFYKY).
Then, in 2021, I got pregnant and delved into true homemaking and getting our space ready for our first child. Pregnancy was anxiety-inducing, so I spent much of the time trying to focus on what I could control (hello, nursery redesign) and relax for as long as I could (hello, pool days!). The day our daughter was born, everything clicked for me. She gave me a sense of purpose that I never had before, and a sense of peace that I didn’t think was possible. Motherhood has given me such clarity, and I really want to pass that on to other women.
So here we are. Here you are. This little corner of the internet will be devoted to living authentically and showing up to each day intentionally (because life is not all or nothing). We’ll chat about everything motherhood, homemaking, cooking, and self-improvement. It’s a little broad, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that you need to see the forest for the trees. Each of us is not just one thing: mother OR wife OR friend OR our job title OR OR OR. We are a combination of each and every experience we’ve had, of each and every day we’ve lived. It all deserves to be celebrated. And that is what we’re here to do.
